Chilli, pepper rise higher on stockists buying

Red chilli and pepper prices rose by Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital today on increased buying by stockists as well as exporters.

Red chilli prices rose by Rs 100 to settle at Rs 6,100- 11,300 per quintal.

Black pepper prices also traded higher at by Rs 22,200- 22,300 against the previous closing of Rs 22,100-22,200 per quintal.

Traders said sentiment turned better on rising domestic and export demand and firming trend at futures market pushed up chilli and jeera prices in the wholesale kirana market here.

Ajwain 16,000-19,500, black pepper common 22,200-22,300 betelnut (kg) 120-145, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 960-970 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,080-1,225

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 980-1030, cardamom (colour robin) 1,150-1,160, cardamom bold 1,170-1,185, cardamom extra (bold) 1,240-1,260 and cloves (kg) 340-410
