Red chilli and pepper prices fell by up to Rs 400 per quintal in the national capital today following weak export and local demand at prevailing high prices.

Also, weak trends in futures trade and increased arrivals from producing belts put pressure on the prices.

Red chilli and pepper prices traded lower in the range of Rs 100-500 to settle at Rs 8,900-12,900 and Rs 28,000-28,100 per quintal, respectively.

Market analysts said reduced offtake by local parties and stockists at prevailing high prices led to the fall in chilli and pepper prices in the wholesale kirana market here.
