Chilli prices gained 2.37% to Rs 6,578 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions, driven by an upsurge in spot market demand amid restricted arrivals from producing regions.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chilli for delivery in November month climbed by Rs 152, or 2.37%, to Rs 6,578 per quintal with an open interest of 3,395 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in December traded higher by Rs 134, or 2.05%, to Rs 6,670 per quintal in 2315 lots.
Market analysts said fresh positions created by speculators following upsurge in spot market demand amid restricted arrivals from producing regions mainly pushed up chilli prices in futures trade.
