Coir fair in Kochi may generate $25 mn business

The Coir Board is organising the India International Coir Fair (IICF)-2007 in Kochi from December 7 to 11. The fair aims at showcasing the rapid strides made by the country's coir industry.
 
According to AC Jose, chairman, Coir Board, the event will provide the buyers from across the world the opportunity to choose from the display of exquisite products. The product portfolio will include coir door mats, matting, carpets, rugs, rubberised coir mattresses, needled felt, and geo-textiles. These apart, new generation products such as coco peat, garden articles and wood substitutes, which have immense growth prospects, will also be put on show.
 
"The IICF will aim at providing its participants with a triple helix opportunity to explore new avenues of growth through direct interactions, forging business alliances and exchanging resourceful industrial information and perspectives, thereby offering a reliable barometer of the current and future trends of the coir industry in the global arena," he pointed out.
 
IICF-2007 will comprise two sections. While the first section will feature coir product manufacturers, technology providers and machinery manufacturers from across the country, the second will consist of buyers from the world over .The event is also expected to enable participation of reputed buying houses, individual buyers and multinational retail chains. The event, according to the board chairman, will initially create an exposure of $25 million for coir products.
 
Around 125 importers from the US, the UK, France, Germany, Japan, Korea, Mexico, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Brazil, Poland, Dubai, Australia and the Netherlands are expected to participate in the event. IICF-2007 will also organise an international seminar targeted at coir professionals, technologists, businessmen, buyers, sellers, manufacturers and agricultural scientists involved in the coir industry.
