Copper declines on global cues

Copper prices declined by Rs 2 per kg in the local non-ferrous metal market today on reduced industrial demand amid a weakening trend in New York.

Trading sentiment in copper turned bearish after copper in New York fell before reports that may show that the economy is slowing in the US, the world's second-largest consumer of the metal after China.

Meanwhile, copper for July-delivery on the Comex in New York dropped 1.1% to $4.1405 a pound. 

In the national capital, copper wire scrap, copper wire bar and copper mixed scrap were were down Rs 2 each to Rs 512, Rs 535 and Rs 495 per kg, respectively.
