Copper declines on weak global cues

Copper prices declied by Rs 2 per kg in the non-ferrous metal market today on reduced offtake by consuming industries amid weakening global trend.

Traders said subdued demand from consuming industries amid weakening trend at the London Metal Exchange mainly led to a decline in copper prices.

Meanwhile, copper for three-month delivery fell 1.4 per cent to $7,953 a metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange.

In the national capital, copper wire scrap, copper wire bar and copper mixed scrap were down by Rs 2 each to Rs 406, Rs 425 and Rs 386 per kg, respectively.
