Copper down 0.3% on global cues

Analysts attributed the fall in copper futures to a weak global trend

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Amid a weak trend overseas and sluggish spot demand, copper prices fell by 0.35% to Rs 467.40 per kg in futures trade today.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in February fell by Rs 1.65, or 0.35%, to Rs 467.40 per kg in business turnover of 79 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in November traded lower by Rs 1.55, or 0.34%, to Rs 457.65 per kg in 2,909 lots.

Analysts attributed the fall in copper futures to a weak global trend on speculation that budget woes will damp the economy in the US, the world's second-biggest user of the metal and low demand at domestic spot markets.

Meanwhile, copper fell 1.40% to trade at 7,147 dollar a tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
