Copper futures prices moved down marginally by 0.10% to Rs 431.70 per kg as speculators reduced their positions even as the metal strengthened at the London Metal Exchange.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in April eased by 55 paise, or 0.10%, to Rs 431.10 per kg, with a business volume of 4,722 lots.

It had ended 1.44 per cent lower at Rs 432.15 per kg in yesterday's trade. Similarly, the metal for delivery in May shed 45 paise, or 0.10%, to Rs 438.10 per kg, with a trade volume of 416 lots.

Market analysts said off-loading of positions by speculators in view of weak trend at spot markets mainly put pressure on the prices.

However, a firm trend at the London Metal Exchange (LME)on demand outlook, restricted the losses, they added.

Meanwhile at the LME, copper for three-month delivery gained 0.2% to $9,639.50 a metric tonne.
