Copper prices fell by 0.16% to Rs 403.55 per kg in futures trade today on profit-booking and weakening global trend.

Subdued demand for the metal at domestic markets also kept pressure on the copper futures here.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in June fell by 65 paise, or 0.16% to Rs 403.55 per kg, with a business turnover of 587 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in June declined by Rs 45, or 0.11% to Rs 398.70 per kg, with a business volume of 6,278 lots.

It had ended 1.4% higher at Rs 404.10 per kg in the previous session.

Market analysts said besides a weakening global trend, fall in spot market demand and profit booking by speculators pulled down copper futures prices.
