Copper futures marginally up on global cues

In restricted activity, copper futures prices rose by 0.20% to Rs 422.50 per kg today, as speculators enlarged their positions amid a slightly better trend at the London Metal Exchange (LME).

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper futures prices for delivery in April rose by 85 paise, or 0.20 per cent, to Rs 422.50 per kg, with a business turnover of 2,399 lots.

It had gained 1.1% to Rs 421.65 per kg in the previous session.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in June gained 75 paise, or 0.18%, to Rs 427 per kg, with a business turnover of 140 lots.

Analysts said trade sentiment turned better at the domestic futures market as copper prices strengthened at the LME.

Meanwhile, copper for three-month delivery moved up by 0.16% to $9,883.50 per tonne at the LME.
