Copper prices traded higher by Rs 1.30 or 0.43 per cent to Rs 305.10 per kg in futures trade today on fresh buying by traders, amid healthy cues from overseas markets. Increased offtake from consuming industries fuelled the uptrend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for November contract rose Rs 1.30, or 0.43 per cent to Rs 305.10 per kg, with an open interest of 268 lots.

The metal for delivery in June contract also edged higher by Rs 1.05, or 0.35 per cent to Rs 298.75 per kg, with a business turnover of 29,719 lots.

Market analysts said, besides firming trend in global markets, fresh buying by traders in spot markets mainly led to a rise in copper prices at futures market.

Meanwhile, copper for September delivery in Shanghai jumped 2 per cent to $7,561 a metric tonne.
