Buoyed by a firming trend overseas and pick-up in spot demand, copper prices rose by Rs 3.20 to Rs 406.75 per kg in futures trading today.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, February copper rose by Rs 3.20, or 0.79%, to Rs 406.75 per kg, with a business turnover of 17,347 lots.
The April delivery gained Rs 3.10, or 0.76%, to Rs 410.60 per kg, with an open interest of 1,183 lots.
Market analysts attributed the rise in copper futures prices to a firming trend in global markets as lower levels spurred buying activity.
Meanwhile, copper futures for three-month rose by 1.5% to $7,653.75 per tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
