Copper marginally down on weak global trends

Prices dropped as speculators trimmed positions

Copper futures for February declined by 40 paise, or 0.09%, to Rs 445.30 per kg in 991 lots.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), the April fell by 60 paise, or 0.09%, to Rs 451.10 per kg in 57 lots.

Prices dropped as speculators trimmed positions.

Subdued trend at the London Metal Exchange (LME), as the euro-area recession deepened more than economists forecast, weakened demand for the metals.

On LME, the three-month contract traded a shade lower at $8,250 per tonne.
