Supported by a rebound in overseas markets, copper futures prices today rose by 0.06% to Rs 424.30 per kg.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, the June contract rose by 20 paise, or 0.06%, to Rs 424.30 per kg, with a turnover of 496 lots.

The April contract was up by 20 paise, or 0.05%, at Rs 418.55 per kg, with a trade volume of 4,281 lots.

Globally, copper for three-month delivery rose by 1% to $8,110 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange, after hitting a three months low yesterday.

Analysts attributed the rise in copper futures trade to a firming trend at the London Metal Exchange as Japan's machinery orders exceeded estimates in February, signalling a rise in capital spending.
