Buoyed by a firming global trend, copper prices moved up by 0.17% to Rs 432.40 per kg in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, April copper traded higher by 75 paise, or 0.17%, to Rs 432.40 per kg in business turnover of 12,326 lots.

The June contract traded higher by the same margin to Rs 436.75 per kg in 652 lots.

Market analysts said fresh buying by speculators in tandem with a firming global trend mainly led to rise in copper prices at futures market here.

Meanwhile, copper for three-month delivery rose 0.7% to 8,636 dollar a metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
