Copper and nickel prices rose by up to Rs 5 per kg in the local non-ferrous metal market today on sustained buying by stockists in tandem with a firming trend at London Metal Exchange.
Trading sentiment remained better after copper in London climbed, rebounding from a decline in early Asian trading, as falling Chinese imports alleviated concerns that there's a persistent over supply in the market.
Meanwhile, copper for three-month delivery rose by 0.9% to $8,970.25 and nickel gained 1.3% to $24,700 a metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
In the national capital, copper wire scrap, copper wire bar and copper mixed scrap remained in demand and advanced by 2 each Rs 506, Rs 529 and Rs 490 per kg, respectively.
Nickel (4x4) followed suit and added another Rs 5 to Rs 1,075-1,077 per kg.
