Copper remains up on firm global cues

Copper prices rose by Rs 2 per kg in the local non-ferrous metal market today, after tracking a firming trend in the London Metal Exchange on fall in holdings.

Trading sentiment in copper remained buoyant after copper climbed in London on speculation that a drop in stockpiles to a seven-month low indicated rising demand for the metal.

Meanwhile, copper for three-month delivery gained 1.6 per cent to $6,718 a metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange.

In the national capital, copper wire scrap, copper wire bar and copper mixed remained in demand and added another Rs 2 each to Rs 365, Rs 384 and Rs 343 per kg, respectively.
