Copper remains up on global trend

Copper prices strengthened by Rs 2 per kg on the local non-ferrous metals market today, after tracking a firming trend in base metals in global markets.

Increased offtake by consuming industries at the spot markets, also influenced the copper prices.

Traders said firming trend in copper and other base metals at the London Metal Exchange (LME), as the outlook for demand improved and weakened dollar raised demand for commodities, mainly influenced the sentiment here.

Meanwhile, copper for three-month delivery rose 0.5 per cent to $8,455 a metric tonne at the LME.

In the national capital, copper wire scrap, copper wire bar and copper mixed scrap were strengthened by Rs 2 each to Rs 430, Rs 449 and Rs 410 per kg, respectively.
