Buoyed by a firm global trend, copper prices rose by Rs 1.15 to Rs 441.20 per kg in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in November rose by Rs 1.15, or 0.26%, to Rs 441.20 per kg, with a business turnover of 27,937 lots.

February copper traded higher by the same margin to Rs 446.30 per kg in 1,858 lots.

Marketmen attributed the rise in copper futures to a firm global trend and pick up in domestic demand.

Meanwhile, copper for delivery in three months climbed 0.9% to $8,245.25 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
