Copper strengthens on global cues

Copper prices added Rs 2 per kg on the local non-ferrous metals market today on fresh buying by stockists influenced by a firming global trend.

Increased offtake from the consuming industries fuelled the uptrend. Traders said fresh buying by stockists after reports that metal recorded fresh gains at the London Metal Exchange, led to a rise in copper prices.

Meanwhile, copper for three months added 1.7 per cent to $6,589 a metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange.

In Delhi, copper wire scrap, copper wire bar and copper mixed scrap were remained in demand strengthened by Rs 2 each to Rs 359,Rs 378 and Rs 338 per kg, respectively.
