Copper up 0.4% on global cues

Metal up 0.3% on LME

Copper prices moved up by 0.40 per cent to Rs 413.35 per kg in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions on firm global cues.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in June traded higher by Rs 1.65 paise, or 0.40 per cent to Rs 413.35 per kg in business turnover of 917 lots.

August copper edged up by Rs 1.60, or 0.39 per cent to Rs 416.60 per kg in 11 lots.

Analysts attributed the rise in copper futures to a firming trend in the entire base metals pack overseas.

Meanwhile, copper climbed 0.30 per cent to $6,767.25 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange. In Shanghai, metal for delivery in August rose 0.40 per cent to 47,470 yuan ($7,622) a tonne.
