Copper up on global cues

Tracking a firming global trend, copper prices rose by Rs 1.10 to Rs 432.75 per kg in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions.

 At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in April rose by Rs 1.10, or 0.25%, to Rs 432.75 per kg, with a business turnover of 18,919 lots.

The June contract traded higher by 90 paise, or 0.21%, to Rs 437.55 per kg, with an open interest of 1,517 lots.

Market analysts said the rise in copper futures was mainly due to firming global trend.

Meanwhile, copper was up 0.7% at $8,500.50 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
