Buoyed by a firm global trend and strong domestic demand, copper prices rose by Rs 4.15 to Rs 437.10 per kg in futures trade today on increased buying by speculators.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, the February contract month rose by Rs 4.15, or 0.96% to Rs 437.10 per kg in business turnover of 22412 lots.

The April contract moved up by Rs 4, or 0.91% to Rs 441.35 per kg in 994 lots.

Market analysts said besides firm global trend, strong domestic demand in the spot market mainly pushed up copper prices at futures trade.

Meanwhile, copper for delivery in three months gained 0.9% to 7,837 dollar a metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
