Copra edible, pepper moves up on better offtake

Copra Edible Mumbai moved up modestly at the spices market here today due to good stockist offtake amidst renewed buying by retailers.

Black pepper also edged up on better consumer demand.

Copra edible Mumbai gained by Rs 100 per quintal to Rs 7,600 from last Saturday's closing level of Rs 7,500.

Black pepper looked up by Rs 2 per kg 235/249 as against 233/247 last weekend. Other spices closed unchanged on lack of worthwhile buying.  

Following are today's closing rates in Rs, with the previous rates in brackets: 

Black pepper (per kg) 235/249 (233/247), ginger bleached (per kg) 230 (230), ginger unbleached (per kg) 245 (245), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 6,100 (6,100)

copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 6,000 (6,000), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 8,500 (8,500) and copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 7,600 (7,500)
