Copra spurts on heavy festive demand

Copra prices rose at the spices market here today due to strong demand from stockists bulk consumers as well as good offtake by millers amidst restricted arrivals from growing regions.   

Meanwhile, black pepper and ginger moved down on reduced retail buying coupled with weak overseas demand.  

Copra office Alapuzha and copra office Kozhikode surged by Rs 200 per quintal each to Rs 6,200 and Rs 6,100 from last Saturday's closing level of Rs 6,000 Rs 5,900. 

Copra Rajapur Mumbai also went up by Rs 100 per quintal to Rs 7,900 as compared to Rs 7,800 previously.

However, black pepper, ginger bleached and unbleached fell by Rs 2 per kilo each to Rs 243/261, Rs 163 and Rs 193 respectively, as compared to Rs 245/263, Rs 165 and Rs 195 last weekend.

Black pepper (per kg) 243/261 (245/263), ginger bleached (per kg) 163 (165), ginger unbleached (per kg) 193 (195), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 6,200 (6,000)

copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 6,100 (5,900), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 7,900 (7,800) and copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 7,400 (7,400)
