Cottonseed futures gain on low inventories

Cottonseed futures prices surged by Rs 18.50, or 1.15 per cent, to 1,215 per quintal in futures trading today on heavy buying by speculators amid tight supply in physical markets.

Marketmen said pick up in demand and restricted supply in spot markets, rose the buying interest in futures, they added.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange counter, cottonseed prices for the current-month September contract hardened by Rs 18.50, or 1.15 per cent, to Rs 1,215 per quintal, with an open interest of 42,490 lots.

Far February-month delivery also marked ahead by Rs 8.50, or 0.81 per cent, to Rs 1,063 per quintal, with an open interest of 2,300 lots.
