Crude oil futures prices declined by 0.24% to Rs 5,301 per barrel today as speculators reduced positions amid a weak trend in Asian trade.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in September shed Rs 13, or 0.24%, to Rs 5,301 per barrel, with a business volume of 15,049 lots.

The October contract moved down by Rs 14, or 0.26%, to Rs 5,333 per barrel, with a turnover of 1,220 lots.

Marketmen said the fall in crude oil futures prices was in line with a weak trend in Asia as supply concerns eased after Hurricane Isaac left production facilities in the US Gulf of Mexico relatively unscathed.

Meanwhile, crude oil for delivery in October was down 42 cents to $95.07 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
