Crude oil down 1.14% on global cues

Crude oil prices fell by Rs 42 or 1.14 per cent to Rs 3,642 per barrel in futures trade today on weak trend overseas.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange platform, crude oil for delivery in August month contract fell by Rs 42 or 1.14 per cent to Rs 3,642 per barrel, with a turnover of 11,567 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in September eased by Rs 38 or 1.02 per cent to Rs 3,678 per barrel, with a turnover of 1,656 lots.

Analysts said weak trend in New York as fuel stockpiles rose more than forecast along with the signs of slowing economic growth in the US-considered as world's biggest crude consumer, kept pressure on the crude futures.

 

In global markets, crude oil for delivery in September, dropped 90 cents or 1.2 per cent to $77.12 a barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

Meanwhile, oil has slumped 5.1 per cent in the past three days.
