Crude oil prices fell by Rs 18 to Rs 4,494 per barrel in futures trade today as speculators off-loaded their positions following a weakening global trend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in June declined by Rs 18, or 0.40% to Rs 4,494 per barrel, with a business turnover of 43 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in July shed Rs 17, or 0.37% to Rs 4,547 per barrel in five lots.

Market analysts said fall in crude oil futures was mostly due to a weakening global trend.

Meanwhile, crude oil lost 67 cents to $99.62 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
