Crude oil declined by 0.92% in futures trade today as speculators booked profits after a recent rally amid weak trend in the Asian markets.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in May fell by Rs 37, or 0.92%, to Rs 5,040 a barrel, with a business turnover of 1,633 lots.
April crude traded Rs 45, or 0.89%, lower at Rs 4,985 a barrel, with a business volume of 3,811 lots.
Analysts said besides profit-booking by traders, a weak trend in Asian market mainly put pressure on the oil prices in the futures trade here but sentiment remained strong due to unrest in West Asia and North Africa.
Meanwhile, crude oil for May delivery declined by 36 cents to $112.43 a barrel in morning trade in the Asian markets.
