Crude oil futures prices declined by Rs 9, or 0.25 per cent, to Rs 3,654 per barrel today, as speculators reduced their positions on the back of a weakening global trend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, crude oil for delivery in October declined by Rs 9, or 0.25 per cent, to Rs 3,654 per barrel, with a business turnover of 50 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in November lost Rs 7, or 0.19 per cent, to Rs 3,706 per barrel, with an open interest of nine lots.

Market analysts said positions reduced by speculators in tandem with a weakening global trend mainly led to decline in crude oil futures prices.

Meanwhile, crude oil for delivery in November lost 3 cent to $82.66 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
