Crude oil prices moved up by 0.33% to Rs 4,617 per barrel in futures trade today, extending yesterday's gains, tracking a firming trend in Asian region.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in June rose by Rs 15, or 0.33% to Rs 4,617 per barrel, with a business turnover of 18,881 lots.

The oil for delivery in July also shot up by Rs 15, or 0.32% to Rs 4,666 per barrel, with a business volume of 812 lots.

Market analysts said a firming trend in Asian region helped crude oil to trade higher at futures trade here but rise in global stockpiles restricted the gains.

Meanwhile, crude oil for delivery in July rose by 36 cents to $101.68 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
