Crude oil futures firm up on overseas cues

Prices went up as speculators created fresh positions

Crude oil futures for May gained Rs 9, or 0.18 per cent, to Rs 4,881 per barrel in 16,727 lots.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), the June contract moved up by similar margin to Rs 4,911 per barrel in 1,090 lots.

Prices went up as speculators created fresh positions.

Firming trend in Asia on bargain buying following a recent sharp decline.

On the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX), the June contract advanced by 11 cents to $91.14 a barrel.
