Crude oil prices rose by Rs 12, or 0.35 per cent, to Rs 3,482 per barrel in futures trade today, as speculators enlarged their positions on the back of firm global cues.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, crude oil for delivery in September contract rose Rs 12, or 0.35 per cent, to Rs 3,482 per barrel, in a turnover of 6,059 lots.
Likewise, the oil for delivery in October gained Rs 36, or 0.34 per cent, to Rs 3,525 per barrel, with a turnover of 196 lots, while November contracts traded Rs 12, or 0.34 per cent, to Rs 3,573 per barrel, in a turnover of 2 lots.
Marketmen said fresh positions created by speculators amid a firm global trend mainly pushed up the crude oil prices in the futures trade.
Meanwhile, crude oil for October delivery gained 29 cents to $74.11 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange after remaining lower for three straight sessions.
