Buoyed by a firm global trend, crude oil prices moved up Rs 15 to Rs 5,371 per barrel in the futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions.
Sentiment bolstered as crude oil rose in New York after Greece completed its debt swap, easing Europe's debt crisis.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in March rose by Rs 15, or 0.28% to Rs 5,371 per barrel in business turnover of 16,992 lots.
The April contract moved up by Rs 14, or 0.26% to Rs 5,427 per barrel in 1,601 lots.
Market analysts attributed to rise in crude oil futures to firming global trend.
Meanwhile, crude oil for April delivery advanced 74 cents to $107.32 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
