Crude oil marginally up on global cues

Speculators enlarge positions on improving sentiment

Crude oil futures prices today rose by 0.31% to Rs 5,142 per barrel as speculators enlarged their positions following a firming global trend.

At the MCX, crude oil for delivery in June rose by Rs 16, or 0.31%, to Rs 5,142 per barrel, with an open interest of 12,988 lots.

The July contract moved up by Rs 15, or 0.29%, to Rs 5,184 per barrel, with an open interest of 759 lots.

Analysts attributed the rise in crude futures to a firming trend in Asian trade.

Meanwhile, crude oil for delivery in June advanced by 40 cents to $92.97 a barrel in morning trade on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
