Crude oil rises 0.4% on global cues

November contract rises by similar margin

Tracking a firm global trend, crude oil prices rose by Rs 20 to Rs 5037 per barrel in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in October rose by Rs 20, or 0.40%, to Rs 5,037 per barrel in a business turnover of Rs 23,231 lots.

The November contract traded higher by the same margin to Rs 5,067 per barrel in 1,810 lots.

Market analysts attributed the rise in crude oil futures to a firming global trend.

Meanwhile, crude oil for November delivery advanced 81 cents to $93.23 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
