Press Trust of India New Delhi

Tracking a weak trend in overseas markets, crude oil prices fell 0.44% to Rs 5,290 per barrel in futures trade today.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, the April contract declined by Rs 22, or 0.44%, to Rs 5,290 per barrel, with a business turnover of 6,731 lots.

The May delivery shed Rs 21, or 0.39%, to Rs 5,344 per barrel, with a business turnover of 753 lots.

Marketmen attributed the decline in crude oil futures to a weak global trend on weak demand from the US.

Meanwhile, crude for May delivery declined by 28 cents to $102.42 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
