Crude palm oil prices fell by Rs 2.20 per kg in futures trade today on sustained selling by speculators amid adequate stocks and weak global cues.

Trading sentiment remained bearish as palm oil in Malaysia traded moderately lower on slowing demand for the commodity among bio-fuel producers.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude palm oil for delivery in August fell by Rs 2.20, or 0.42% to Rs 521.10 per 10 kg, with a trade volume of six lots.

Likewise, its prices for delivery in June declined by Rs 1.50, or 0.29% to Rs 521 per 10 kg, with a trading volume of 153 lots.

Crude palm oil for delivery in July also eased by Rs 1.30, or 0.25% to Rs 521.80 per 10 kg, with trading volume of 96 lots.

Traders said sustained selling by speculators amid a weakening global trend mainly led to the fall in crude palm oil prices in the futures trade.

In Malaysia, palm oil for August delivery declined by 1.2% to $1,100 a metric ton.
