Crude palm oil prices fell by Rs 6.80 to Rs 525 per 10 kg in futures trade today on fresh selling by speculators, triggered by a weakening global trend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude palm oil for delivery in May fell by Rs 6.80, or 1.28%, to Rs 525 per 10 kg, with an open interest of a single lot.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in April declined by Rs 6.30, or 1.18 per cent, to Rs 525.50 per 10 kg, with a business volume of one lot.

Crude palm oil futures prices for delivery in March lost Rs 6, or 1.13%, to Rs 524.20 per 10 kg, with a business turnover of five lots.

Market analysts attributed the fall in crude palm oil prices to fresh selling by speculators in tandem with a weakening global trend.

Meanwhile, palm oil futures for delivery in June declined by 1.7% to $1,109 a metric tonne on the Malaysian Derivatives Exchange.
