Crude palm oil prices edged up by Rs 1.60 to Rs 433.40 per 10 kg in futures trading today, as speculators created fresh positions on hopes of rise in demand at spot markets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, crude palm oil for October delivery edged up by Rs 1.60, or 0.37 per cent, to Rs 433.40 per 10 kg, with a business turnover of two lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in November-month gained Rs 1.20, or 0.28 per cent, to Rs 435 per 10 kg, with an open interest of just one lot.

Analysts said fresh buying by speculators on expectations of pick up in demand in the spot markets during festival and marriage season mainly led to a rise in crude palm oil prices at futures trade.
