Crude palm oil prices moved up by Rs 2.60 to Rs 496 per 10 kg in futures trade today, in tandem with a firming global trend.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude palm oil for August delivery rose by Rs 2.60, or 0.53%, to Rs 496 per 10 kg, with a business turnover of 29 lots.
Similarly, the oil for delivery in June edged up by Rs 2.50, or 0.51%, to Rs 495.50 per 10 kg, with an open interest for 17 lots.
Analysts said besides a firming trend in overseas markets, fresh buying by traders due to a pick-up in demand in the spot market also led to the rise in crude palm oil futures prices.
Meanwhile, palm oil for September delivery gained 0.7% to $1,060 a tonne at the Malaysia Derivatives Exchange.
