Amar Remedies is down nearly 3% on reports that Dabur has filed a case against the company for violating the intellectual property right of its toothpaste brand Meswak.

Dabur has alleged that producer of the Amar brand of toothpaste also makes a toothpaste branded as Siwak and exports it to Algeria.

Dabur in its suit alleged that Amar Remedies has tried to ‘pass off’ Siwak as Meswak. The term passing off under intellectual property rights law means making a wrong representation that it is likely to tempt an individual to believe that the goods or services are of a different company.

A combined volume of over 2 lakh shares were traded on the Bombay Stock Exchange and National Stock Exchange.
