Dalal St Spikes - PBA Infra in demand

PBA Infrastructure surged to a high of Rs 173 following the announcement that the company has bagged three major contracts valued at approxiamately Rs 65 crore. The stock is now up over 6% at Rs 170, and the counter has clocked a hefty volume of around 22 lakh shares.

SBI has gained Rs 7 at Rs 871 on volumes of around 2.35 lakh shares. The bank has hiked home loan rates by 50-75 basis points.

Titan today announced the launch of its premium brand Xylys in New Delhi. The stock touched a high of Rs 816, and is now up 2.3% at Rs 811 amid trades of around 4.42 lakh shares.

Carborundum Universal added 4.4% to Rs 165 following the acquisition of a Canadian firm for CAD 2.25 million. The counter has clocked a volume of around 87, 000 shares.

Hester Pharmaceuticals hit the 10% upper limit at Rs 143 following the company's plan to apply for importing poultry vaccines from France & USA in the wake of brid flu in India. The stock has now pared some gains and is up 4.5% at Rs 136 on trades of around 40,000 shares.

The Sensex touched a high of 10,194, and is now up 113 points at 10,192.
