Dalal Street Spikes: UTI Bank in limelight

UTI Bank has witnessed an unusually high of volume of around 1.15 crore shares compared to its two-week, daily traded volume of around 1.34 lakh shares. The stock is currently trading with a gain of 1% at Rs 321.

Reliance Energy Ventures (REVL), the second of the four demerged entities of Reliance, debuted today. The stock opened at Rs 45.70, and touched a high of Rs 46 before tumbling to a low of Rs 42.90. The stock is presently trading at Rs 43.95 amidst hefty volumes of around 71 lakh shares. Shareholders holding 100 shares of the company would get 7.5 shares of Reliance Energy.

Gillette India surged to a high of Rs 1,019 backed by steady FY05 numbers. The stock has pared some gains, and is now up 3.5% at Rs 976 with trades of around 9,600 odd shares.

Jain Irrigation has acquired a strategic stake in Greece-based Eurodip. The stock rallied to a high of Rs 224, and is now up 3% at Rs 222. Around two lakh shares have changed hands at the counter.

Aurobindo has gained 1% to Rs 558 after the company received the final USFDA approval for Lisinopril tablets. Earlier in the day, the stock witnessed a freak trade, which saw the stock open at Rs 644 - up nearly 17% from its previous close.

The Sensex has partially recovered from the day's low of 10,177, and is now down 29 points at 10,215.
