Data sharing woes impeding Sebi's several ongoing investigations

Markets regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) is facing impediments with several ongoing investigations, on account of challenges around data sharing arrangements with other regulatory agencies. 

People in the know said several data requests made by Sebi in the past to other regulators, including the tax department and economic intelligence bureau, have not returned adequate responses. This has slowed down its efforts to crack down on wrongdoings.
