Defensive play lifts Tata Motors

Auto major Tata Motors was in the limelight on Wednesday recovering smartly ahead of its fourth-quarter results. The stock gained 4.72 per cent to close at Rs 420.70, after hitting the day's high of Rs 428.30.
 
The counter witnessed a volume of 18.65 lakh shares on the BSE.
 
Analysts said after Monday's crash sectors such as IT, automobile and pharmaceutical are considered as defensive stocks and select counters are witnessing renewed buying.
