Dhanlaxmi Bank gets new MD, stock surges 9%

PG Jayakumar took over the rein of the bank in February, when Amitabh Chaturvedi quit following differences with the management.

Dhanlaxmi Bank has rallied 9% to Rs 56.40 on back of huge volumes. The trading volumes on the counter more than doubled with a combined 822,338 shares having changed hands so far, against an average 315,000 shares that were traded daily in past two weeks.

On Thursday, the private sector bank has informed stock exchange that Shri P. G. Jayakumar has been appointed as managing director and chief executive office (CEO) of the bank w.e.f. May 18, 2012, after the confirmation from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).

PG Jayakumar took over the rein of the bank in February, when Amitabh Chaturvedi quit following differences with the management.

 

Meanwhile, the board of directors of the bank will meet on May 30, to consider the audited financial results for the quarter/year ended March 31, 2012 and to recommend dividend, if any.
