Domestic institutional investors (DII) failed to absorb aggressive foreign institutional investors (FII) selling and the Instanex FII index dropped 2.20% to 190.28 at close. The Instanex DII 15 portfolio underperformed, down 2.37% and Sensex was lower by 2.09% and Nifty was down 1.95%.
All the 15 components of the index were down. The main losers were ITC (-3.75%; weight 5.02%), TCS (-3.12%; weight 2.54%), HDFC (-2.95%; weight 11.19%), Bharti Airtel (-2.60%; weight 13.98%) and ICICI Bank (-2.56%; weight 6.72%).
