Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) pulled out Rs 62,000 crore from Indian equities in March. This was the biggest monthly outflow, based on the National Securities Depository data available as far back as 2002. Cameron Brandt, director of research at EPFR Global, tells Puneet Wadhwa that sentiment towards India had started to sour before the Covid-19 pandemic began to dominate the investment climate.
